About us

Governing body
Burnham on Sea Ju jitsu is part of The Bushido Zazen International Society founded in 1969 with the aim of promoting the kyu shin do philosophy and providing facilities where both seniors and juniors could enjoy martial arts in a social atmosphere, free from strife and petty jealousies, in the belief members should be free to work and practice with whom so ever they wish.

Who we support
We support a local community group that provides a place for children with autism. This group provides a place where the children and their families can go, socialise and make friends. People affected with autism are often isolated in society and find it difficult to access social events. This is a place these children can go without discrimination and feel free to relax in a supported and friendly environment.

Club ethics
Our aim is to provide a community club that is open, friendly, an environment that everyone feels welcome and relaxed. A safe place to learn martial arts. become fitter and make friends.
Building a good club and team spirit is about creating a positive atmosphere. Club members should be confident they are entering an environment where their skills will increase in a safe and friendly way. The club can never be a place of fear or intimidation. Individual members should be encouraged to support each other. Individual rivalry should be encouraged but controlled in a sporting, safe and friendly way by the coach. The coach should have practical experience backed with coaching certificates from a governing body. They should have the ability and confidence to adjust techniques that will meet individual needs and situations. To realise that all ability is relative and each person has their own worth in the club and their own contribution to make. A good coach should support, encourage and motivate the team to meet each individual’s objective.
