Social group for children with Autism or Asperger’s syndrome

For children with Asperger’s syndrome and autism and their families.

This social group is for children up to the age of 15, with their families to meet new people. As there are no helpers in this group all parents and carers are responsible for the children that they bring to the group, however we are a very friendly group so if you need someone to watch your child for a short time please do not hesitate to ask someone.

 

All drinks and biscuits are free and are provided for by kj2 martial arts group. You are also free to bring your own snacks are drinks.                         

The club was originally formed as a place that children with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome could meet with their families and siblings. It started with only a couple of families but has now grown.

Children with autism/asperger’s syndrome often have great difficulties socially and the families can find themselves quite isolated due to the child’s behaviour and difficulties coping. Many of these children have sensory difficulties which make them sensitive to lights, noise, over stimulation, obsessive behaviour etc. and these can be catered for in the group. Also parents and carers can support each other by sharing experiences. Siblings can play and make friends with peers that have similar experiences.
